‘I've been fascinated by hair since I was a child, always observing it. At sixteen I started working in a hair salon, where I spent four years learning the craft from the ground up. From there I went freelance and dove into the world of session hair, and after another four years I also rented my own chair in Amsterdam alongside it. Today I'm Creative Director for Kuro in Rotterdam. What constantly inspires me is turning something classic into something modern, though I equally love seeing those classic forms and techniques resurface in new work and new inspiration often comes from the interesting people I meet along the way. My career highlights: the awards I've had the honour of winning, shooting the Numero cover with Yolanthe, and creating the 500th cover of Playboy, an issue that still feels truly iconic to me.’
