Benzi Mazliah
‘ Benzi Mazliah (1950) started sculpting at age 14. In 1970 he enrolled at the AVNI Art Academy in Tel Aviv. Not long after that he is awarded a scholarship to continue his studies at the renowned Accademia di Belle Arti in Florence (Italy) where he resides for four years. From there, Benzi moved to The Netherlands where he studies at the Vrije Academie in The Hague.For more than a decade Benzi exclusively creates stone sculptures using raw materials directly derived from nature. Being fascinated by ancient culture his style of work often resembles this. Many of his sculptures give the impression they were dug up from a thousand year old archeological site.’
