‘‘My drawings show an intimate, frozen world often with an ominous undertone.
For me everything is animated: landscapes, buildings, objects. Magical and mysterious. A feeling of impending doom is omnipresent. It’s fairly recent that I discovered why I draw the way that I do. In a world that’s totally alien to me I’m desperately yearning for that one point of reference and recognition. Simultaneously withdrawing from the real world by creating my own, one filled with silence and solitude. The act of drawing also has an incredible urgency to me. It's a frantic exercise in control, a way to process my emotions since I have been struggling with episodes of depression. Upon closer inspection it was found that I have a type of autism. Instead of covering it up I rather shine a light on mental health and use it to my advantage by exploring it through art. The subjects I draw evoke a certain emotion in me, in their desolation, gloom or astonishment.’
